We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineering Manager to lead a team responsible for building, operating, and continuously improving cloud platform capabilities that power highly available, scalable, and secure services. This role blends hands-on technical leadership with people and operational management, ensuring platform reliability, execution excellence, and team growth.
You will partner closely with Product Engineering, Platform, and SRE leaders to deliver resilient cloud infrastructure at scale. The ideal candidate is a strong technical leader with deep production experience, a passion for operational excellence, and a proven ability to mentor engineers and drive outcomes in fast-paced environments.
Work Schedule:
This position requires shift-aligned coverage with U.S. Pacific Time hours (9:00 PM IST – 5:00 AM IST) and participation in an on-call rotation, including escalation management.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the reliability, availability, and performance of cloud platforms supporting production services.
- Provide technical direction and architectural guidance for automation, infrastructure, and operational improvements.
- Drive continuous improvement in reliability metrics, including availability, MTTD, MTTR, and incident reduction.
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of DevOps engineers through coaching, feedback, and career development.
- Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, learning, and operational excellence.
- Support hiring, onboarding, performance management, and succession planning.
- Balance workload, shift coverage, and on-call rotations to maintain team health and sustainability.
- Own incident response processes, including escalation, coordination, and stakeholder communication.
- Collaborate closely with Product Engineering, Platform, SRE, and Delivery teams to enable fast, reliable software releases.
- Establish and evolve operational processes, runbooks, and documentation standards.
Required Qualifications - 8–12+ years of experience in software engineering, DevOps, SRE, or production operations.
- 3–5+ years of experience leading or managing engineering teams (people management or strong technical leadership).
- Strong hands-on experience supporting production systems and managing incident response.
- Experience operating and managing public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or OpenStack); data center experience preferred.
- Deep understanding of:
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible)
- Containers and orchestration (Kubernetes, Helm, Docker)
- CI/CD pipelines and Git-based workflows (e.g., GitLab)
- Networking, databases, and distributed systems
- Proven ability to balance technical depth with people leadership and delivery management.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and decision-making skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating large-scale, customer-facing SaaS platforms.
- Exposure to reliability engineering practices, observability tooling, and automation at scale.
- Track record of building high-performing, globally distributed engineering teams.
- Experience working in 24x7 operational environments with shift and on-call models.
